Originally a furisode 振り袖 (formal single woman's kimono) this piece was turned into a juban 襦袢 (under kimono) after marriage as it was no longer acceptable for a wife to wear, but throwing it away would have been wasteful. Features imagery of dolls sitting in printed shibori 絞り (tie dye) fields.
